Awards and Winners
Awards
Teachers submit their entries to one of five regional contests throughout the state. Up to twenty-four winners are selected from each Regional competition. All regional winning entries advance to the state competition in which 12 state winners and 12 state honorable mention winners are selected. The state winners' drawings are featured in a 12-month calendar the following school year. Regional and state winners receive monetary awards, medals and certificates.
Regional Competition
- Up to twenty-four regional winners receive an award and certificate.
- Teachers of award-winning students receive recognition.
- Some Regional Centers for Economic Education offer an awards reception for winners, parents, and teachers.
- Winners in each of the regional competitions advance to compete in the state competition.
State Competition
- Twelve statewide winners and twelve honorable mention winners receive a medal, monetary award and award certificate.
- Teachers of award-winning students receive recognition.
- Econ Illinois will provide a press release template that teachers can edit and share with their local media.
- Winners will be published in a 12-month calendar for the next school year. Calendars will be sent to all participating teachers and to the families and principals of state-winning students.
Judging
Entries are judged on accuracy of concept, originality, creativity and artistic ability, using the following rubric:

Teachers are welcome use the posters of previous state winners as examples of concepts, however, please remind your students to use their own ideas rather than copy any example you show them.
