The Stock Market Game™
The Stock Market Game (SMG) is an online education program used in thousands of classrooms nationwide. It helps teach core subjects like math, social studies, technology, business, economics and language skills in a real-world setting while emphasizing the importance of long-term saving and investing. The SMG program has engaged over 610,000 students in Illinois since it was introduced in 1988.
Students in grades 4-12 work together in teams to manage and grow a simulated investment portfolio throughout the school year. They will research and evaluate stocks, bonds and mutual funds to make informed, economic decisions. These activities help students understand how the economy, the stock
Teachers can incorporate The Stock Market Game’s lessons and activities with Common Core Standards to teach and reinforce essential skills and concepts in a fun and innovative way. The Stock Market Game is flexible and designed so students and teachers learn as they go. Thanks to our generous donors, teachers are able to register their student teams at no financial cost.
Students who participate in The Stock Market Game™ program learn more than investing—they gain real-world education and life skills.

Capitol Hill Challenge is a special edition of the SMG program provided by the SIFMA Foundation. Each spring, members of Congress are matched with SMG teams in their district. The top ranked teams from across the U.S. travel to Washington D.C. in June to receive awards on Capitol Hill.
